Automation Log

Overview

The Automation Log screen in ConnectAlarm lets users review the execution history of Home Automation rules.

Use this page when users need to:

  • Check whether automation rules ran successfully.
  • Review failed automation executions.
  • Filter automation logs by date.
  • Confirm when an automation action was recorded.

This page helps users troubleshoot automation behavior and verify whether configured rules ran as expected.

Before you begin

Preconditions

  • The user is signed in to the ConnectAlarm app.
  • The selected security panel is available.
  • At least one automation rule exists or has existed.
  • At least one automation rule has run, if the user expects log entries to appear.

Dependencies

  • Automation logs depend on Home Automation rule execution history.
  • Log entries depend on communication between the app, PowerManage server, security panel, and target devices.
  • Successful and failed status reporting depends on the result returned by the PowerManage server and security panel.

Limitations

  1. Logs will not appear if no automation rule has run.
  2. Logs will be delayed if the security panel or PowerManage server connection is unavailable.
  3. A failed log entry may require checking the related rule, panel state, or target device.

Page layout

The Automation Log screen shows filters, grouped log entries, and an empty state when no records match the selected filter.

How to use this page

Open Automation Log

  1. Open the ConnectAlarm app.
  2. Sign in to your account.
  3. Sign in to your security panel.
  4. Open the icon-text menu.
  5. Select Automation Log.

View all automation log entries

  1. Open Automation Log.
  2. Select All.
  3. Review the log entries under each user or source group.

View successful automation executions

  1. Open Automation Log.
  2. Select Successful.
  3. Review the filtered list.
note

A successful entry means the automation was reported as successful by the system. If a physical device did not change state, check the device status separately.

View failed automation executions

  1. Open Automation Log.
  2. Select Failed.
  3. Review the filtered list.

Filter automation logs by date

  1. Open Automation Log.
  2. Select Calendar.
  3. Select Select date.
  4. Choose the required date.
  5. Review the filtered results.

Tips

tip
  1. Use All first when looking for a rule run. Then use Successful, Failed, or Calendar to narrow the results.
  2. Use the Failed filter when troubleshooting automation rules that did not behave as expected.
  3. Use the Calendar filter when investigating an issue reported for a specific date.
  4. If the list is long, collapse executed actions list that are not relevant.

Troubleshooting

Automation logs do not appear
  • No automation rules have run.
  • The selected filter has no matching entries.
  • The selected date has no entries.
  • The PowerManage server connection is unavailable.
  1. Select All.
  2. If Calendar is selected, choose another date.
  3. Confirm that automation rules exist and have run.
  4. Confirm that the connection with PowerManage is available.
  5. Contact the administrator or installer if logs remain unavailable.
A rule is missing from the log
  • The rule did not run.
  • The rule is disabled.
  • The rule trigger did not occur.
  • Rule conditions were not met.
  • The log entry is hidden by the selected filter.
  • The log entry is under a collapsed group.
  1. Select All.
  2. Expand the relevant executed rule.
  3. Use Calendar to check the expected date.
  4. Open Home Automation and confirm that the rule is enabled.
  5. Review the rule trigger, conditions, and actions.
  6. Check the Failed filter.
Failed automation entries appear
  • The panel was disconnected.
  • The target device was offline or unreachable.
  • Communication with the PowerManage server was unavailable.
  1. Note the log timestamp and related icon or rule name.
  2. Open Home Automation and review the related rule.
  3. Confirm that the target device or partition is available.
  4. Confirm that the panel is connected.
  5. Try again only when the action is safe and authorized.
