Dashboard settings

Overview

The Dashboard settings option in ConnectAlarm lets users customize which widgets appear on the dashboard.

Use this page when users need to:

  • Show widgets that are currently hidden.
  • Hide widgets that are currently visible.
  • Change the order of visible dashboard widgets.
  • Open widget-specific settings when a widget supports configuration.

This page helps users keep the dashboard focused on the information and controls they use most often.

Before you begin

Required permissions

  • Access to the ConnectAlarm mobile app
  • Access to the selected security system

Limitations

warning
  • Some widgets may not appear if the related device, sensor, or service is not configured.
  • Some widgets may not have a settings option.
  • The page apply changes automatically after returning to the dashboard.

Page layout

The Dashboard settings page is opened from the main Dashboard screen.

Back button

The back arrow appears in the top-left corner of the Dashboard settings page.

Use the back button to return to the dashboard.

Visible widgets section

The Visible widgets section lists widgets that currently appear on the dashboard.

Hidden widgets section

The Hidden widgets section lists widgets that are available but not currently shown on the dashboard.

How to use this page

Open dashboard settings

  1. Open the ConnectAlarm app.
  2. Sign in to your account and specific panel.
  3. Go to the Dashboard tab.
  4. Select Dashboard settings.

Show a hidden widget on the dashboard

  1. Open Dashboard settings.
  2. Under Hidden widgets, find the widget to show.
  3. Select the green icon-text next to the widget.

Hide a widget from the dashboard

  1. Open Dashboard settings.
  2. Under Visible widgets, find the widget to hide.
  3. Select the red icon-text next to the widget.

Reorder dashboard widgets

  1. Open Dashboard settings.
  2. Under Visible widgets, find the widget to move.
  3. Press and hold the drag handle.
  4. Drag the widget to the required position.
  5. Release the widget.

Only visible widgets can be reordered.

Configure a widget

  1. Open Dashboard settings.
  2. Find the widget to configure.
  3. Select the icon-text next to the widget.
  4. Review and update the available settings.
  5. Return to Dashboard settings or the dashboard.

Not every widget has a gear icon. Widgets without a gear icon do not expose configurable options from this page.

Tips

tip
  1. Keep frequently used widgets in the Visible widgets section so users can access them from the dashboard without opening additional pages.
  2. Place the most important widgets near the top of the visible list. This can reduce scrolling on smaller screens.
  3. Hide widgets that are not relevant to the current installation. Hidden widgets remain available in Dashboard settings and can be added later.
  4. If a widget has a gear icon, review its settings before adding it to the dashboard. Some widgets may need configuration before they provide useful information.

Troubleshooting

Dashboard settings button is not visible
  • The app version does not support dashboard customization
  • The user is not on the Dashboard tab
  1. Confirm that the user is on the Dashboard tab.
  2. Update the app if the feature is not available in the current version.
A widget cannot be configured
  • The widget does not support configuration.
  1. Check whether a gear icon appears next to the widget.
  2. If no gear icon appears, use the widget with its current settings
A visible widget does not show useful data
  • The related device or sensor is offline/malfunction.
  • The widget needs configuration.
  • The system has no recent data for the widget.
  1. Check whether the widget has a gear icon and review its settings.
  2. Confirm that the related device, sensor, or service is active.
  3. Check the system connection status.
  4. Contact the installer or administrator if the issue continues
The user cannot reorder widgets
  • There is only one visible widget.
  • The user is not using the drag handle.
  1. Add at least two widgets to Visible widgets.
  2. Use the drag handle on the right side of the widget row.
  3. Press and hold before dragging.
  4. Restart the app if the drag action does not work.
