Granting installer access

Overview

The Installer access screen in ConnectAlarm lets users approve a remote installer access request.

Use this page when users need to:

  • Review a remote installer access approval request.
  • Grant temporary remote access to an installer, if authorized.

This page helps prevent unintended installer access by requiring a deliberate approval action from the user.

Before you begin

Preconditions

  • The user is signed in to the ConnectAlarm app.
  • The selected security panel is available.
  • A remote installer access request is active.
  • The user understands why installer access is being requested.

Dependencies

  • Remote installer access depends on the security panel, PowerManage server, and installer configuration.
  • The approval request require network connectivity.
  • The installer must have a valid remote access request.

Limitations

  1. Approving installer access allow a remote installer to view or change security system settings.
  2. Approve access only when the request is expected and authorized.
  3. Access expires automatically. Confirm access duration with the PowerManage administrator or installer.

How to use this page

Open the Installer access page

  1. Open the ConnectAlarm app.
  2. Sign in to your account.
  3. Sign in to your security panel.
  4. Open the icon-text menu.
  5. Select Installer access, if available.

Approve remote installer access

  1. Open the Installer access page.
  2. Confirm that the request is expected and authorized.
  3. Place a finger on the arrow handle in the slide-to-approve control.
  4. Slide the handle across the approval track.
  5. Wait for the app to process the approval.

Approve access only for a trusted and expected installer session. Remote access may allow system configuration changes.

  1. Approve installer access only during a scheduled support or service session.
  2. Confirm the request with the installer or administrator before using the approval slider.
  3. Use the slide control carefully. It is designed to reduce accidental approvals.
  4. If the request is unexpected, leave the page without approving and contact the administrator or service provider.
  5. After approval, review related system events or activity records if your organization requires an audit trail.

Troubleshooting

The user cannot find the Installer access page
  • The user does not have permission to approve installer access.
  • The feature is hidden by configuration.
  1. Open the icon-text menu and look for Installer access.
  2. Confirm that you are signed in as Master user.
  3. Contact the administrator or installer to check the PowerManage configuration.
The approval was granted by mistake
  • The user completed the slider unintentionally.
  • The user approved the wrong or unexpected request.
  • The request was not verified before approval.
  1. Contact the administrator or installer immediately.
  2. Ask the installer to stop the remote session, if it is not authorized.
  3. Change relevant settings or credentials if required by site policy.
  4. Contact the service provider if unauthorized access is suspected.
The installer says access was not received
  • The installer is connected to a different security panel.
  • The user approved access for a different security panel.
  • Network connectivity is unavailable.
  1. Confirm the selected security panel.
  2. Ask the installer to confirm the active request.
  3. Approve again only if the request is expected and authorized.
  4. Contact the administrator or service provider if the installer still cannot access the system.
