Configuration

Overview​

The Configuration tab in the Equipment hub is used to manage the configuration of a selected panel. Use this tab to:

  • Download the current configuration from a panel.
  • Review saved configuration snapshots.
  • Open and edit the current configuration.
  • Compare an older configuration with the current configuration.
  • Restore a full configuration or selected configuration options.
  • Export configuration data to a CSV file.
  • Exclude one configuration from rotation.
  • Create a basic configuration from selected configuration elements.

Use this tab when you need to audit panel settings, recover previous values, prepare a basic configuration, or apply configuration changes to a physical panel.

This article assumes that the user opens the Configuration tab from a selected panel in the Equipment hub. Exact permission names, configuration option names, and validation rules are not specified in the available source information.

Before you begin​

Required permissions​

  • You must have permission to view equipment and open panel details.
  • You must have permission to view panel configuration.
  • You must have permission to download configuration from a panel.
  • You must have permission to change and upload panel configuration.
  • You must have permission to export configuration, if exporting is required.
  • You must have permission to restore configuration, if restoring is required.

Access to the Configuration tab and configuration charts is controlled by the role permission group called "Configuration".

Preconditions​

  • The panel must exist in the Equipment hub.
  • The panel must be available for configuration download before the page can show configuration data.
  • A configuration must be downloaded before users can review, edit, compare, export, or restore configuration values.
  • To compare configurations, at least two configuration snapshots must exist.
  • To upload changes, at least one configuration option must be changed.

Dependencies​

  • Configuration download and upload depend on communication with the selected panel.
  • Export depends on browser file download behavior.
  • Configuration restore depends on the availability of the saved configuration snapshot.
  • Search results depend on configuration option names and values available in the downloaded configuration.

Important limitations​

  • Uploading configuration changes can take more than 5 minutes.
  • Only one configuration can be marked as Exclude from rotation at a time.
  • The Compare with current configuration action is not available for the newest current configuration.
  • Restoring a configuration or selected options changes panel configuration values. Review differences before you continue.
  • If no configuration has been downloaded yet, the tab shows a warning and only allows downloading configuration from the panel.

Page layout​

Configurations list​

The configurations list is the default view of the Configuration tab after at least one configuration has been downloaded. It shows saved configuration snapshots for the selected panel.

If no configuration is available, the page shows the message Configuration not available yet. Download configuration from panel to work with it and a Download button.

The Refresh and Download actions both start a configuration download from the panel. Download appears when no configuration exists. Refresh appears after configurations are available.

Edit configuration screen​

The edit configuration screen opens when you select a configuration from the configurations list. Use it to review, search, change, export, or create a basic configuration from selected settings.

The compare configurations screen opens when you select Compare with current configuration for a saved configuration. Use it to review differences between the selected saved configuration and the current configuration.

Export file modal​

The Export file modal opens when you select Export from the configurations list or from the three-dot menu on the edit configuration screen.

Do not close the page or interrupt panel communication while configuration changes are uploading, unless your product support process instructs you to do so.

How to use this page​

Download the first configuration from a panel​

Goal:

  • Download configuration from the selected panel so you can review, edit, compare, or export it.

Steps:

  1. Open the Equipment hub.
  2. Open the required panel.
  3. Select the Configuration tab.
  4. If the page shows Configuration not available yet. Download configuration from panel to work with it, select Download.
  5. Wait for the download process to complete.

Expected result:

  • The panel configuration is downloaded.
  • The configurations list appears.
  • The downloaded configuration is available for review.

Refresh the current configuration​

Goal:

  • Download the latest configuration from the panel and update the configurations list.

Steps:

  1. Open the selected panel in the Equipment hub.
  2. Select the Configuration tab.
  3. Select Refresh.
  4. Wait for the download process to complete.

Expected result:

  • A new or updated configuration snapshot appears in the list.
  • The newest actual configuration is marked with a check icon.

Open and review a configuration​

Goal:

  • Review configuration options for a saved configuration snapshot.

Steps:

  1. Open the Configuration tab for a panel.
  2. In the configurations list, find the configuration by date and time.
  3. Select the configuration item.
  4. Review the configuration date and available options.
  5. Use the search field to find a specific option, if needed.

Expected result:

  • The configuration opens on the edit configuration screen.
  • The configuration options are available for review.

Change configuration options and upload them to the panel​

Goal:

  • Apply selected configuration changes to the panel.

Steps:

  1. Open the required configuration.
  2. Use the search field to find the option you want to change.
  3. Change one or more configuration options.
  4. Review the highlighted changed options.
  5. If you need to revert one option, select the Undo icon near that option.
  6. Review the pending changes message.
  7. Select the Upload icon button.
  8. In the Upload configuration changes modal, review the warning message.
  9. Select Upload.

Expected result:

  • Changed configuration options are uploaded to the panel.
  • The pending changes message is cleared after the upload completes.
  • The panel uses the uploaded configuration values.

Uploading configuration changes can take more than 5 minutes. Start the upload only when panel communication can remain available during the operation.

Cancel pending configuration changes​

Goal:

  • Discard configuration edits that have not been uploaded.

Steps:

  1. Change one or more configuration options.
  2. Review the pending changes message.
  3. Select the Cancel icon button near the pending changes message.
  4. Confirm the result on the page, if a confirmation is shown.

Expected result:

  • Pending configuration changes are discarded.
  • Changed option highlights are removed.
  • No changes are uploaded to the panel.

Compare a saved configuration with the current configuration​

Goal:

  • Review differences between an older configuration and the current configuration.

Steps:

  1. Open the Configuration tab.
  2. Find an older saved configuration in the configurations list.
  3. Select the Compare with current configuration icon.
  4. Review the saved configuration date and the current configuration date.
  5. Use the search field to find a specific option, if needed.
  6. Review the differences list.

Expected result:

  • The compare configurations screen opens.
  • Differences between the selected saved configuration and the current configuration are shown.

The Compare with current configuration icon is not shown for the newest current configuration.

Restore a full saved configuration​

Goal:

  • Restore an older saved configuration to the panel.

Steps:

  1. Open the compare configurations screen for the saved configuration you want to restore.
  2. Review the differences between the saved configuration and the current configuration.
  3. Select the restore configuration icon button.
  4. Complete any confirmation step, if shown.
  5. Wait for the restore process to complete.

Expected result:

  • The selected saved configuration is restored to the panel.
  • The panel configuration changes to match the restored configuration.

Restore only after you confirm that the older configuration is the intended target. Restoring can overwrite current panel settings.

Restore one changed option from comparison​

Goal:

  • Restore a specific option without restoring the full configuration.

Steps:

  1. Open the compare configurations screen.
  2. Use the search field to find the option you want to restore.
  3. Review the current value and saved value.
  4. Select Restore for the changed option.
  5. Complete any confirmation step, if shown.

Expected result:

  • The selected option is restored independently.
  • Other configuration options are not restored by this action.

Export a configuration​

Goal:

  • Download a configuration as a CSV file.

Steps:

  1. Open the Configuration tab.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • In the configurations list, select the Export icon for a configuration.
    • Open a configuration, select the three-dot menu, and then select Export.
  3. In the Export file modal, select a separator:
    • Comma
    • Semicolon
    • Tabulation
  4. Review or edit the file name.
  5. Select Export.

Expected result:

  • The configuration is exported as a CSV file.
  • The downloaded file uses the selected separator and file name.

Exclude a configuration from rotation​

Goal:

  • Mark one configuration so it is excluded from rotation.

Steps:

  1. Open the Configuration tab.
  2. Find the configuration in the configurations list.
  3. Select the Exclude from rotation icon for that configuration.
  4. Review the list to confirm the selected configuration is marked.

Expected result:

  • The selected configuration is excluded from rotation.
  • If another configuration was previously excluded, it is no longer the excluded configuration.

Only one configuration can be excluded from rotation at a time.

Create a basic configuration​

Goal:

  • Create a new basic configuration from selected configuration elements.

Steps:

  1. Open the required configuration.
  2. Select the three-dot menu.
  3. Select Make basic.
  4. Select the configuration elements to include in the new basic configuration.
  5. Review the message that shows how many configuration elements are selected.
  6. Select the Create icon button.
  7. Enter the basic configuration name.
  8. Save the basic configuration.

Expected result:

  • A new basic configuration is created from the selected elements.
  • The selected name is saved for the basic configuration.

Cancel basic configuration creation​

Goal:

  • Stop creating a basic configuration and clear the current selection.

Steps:

  1. Start Make basic mode from the three-dot menu.
  2. Select one or more configuration elements.
  3. Select the Cancel icon button near the selection message.

Expected result:

  • Basic configuration creation is canceled.
  • Selected configuration elements are cleared.

Tips​

tip
  • Download or refresh configuration before making changes so you work with the latest panel state.
  • Use search before editing to reduce the chance of changing the wrong option.
  • Review highlighted options and use Undo for individual changes before selecting Upload.
  • Export a configuration before making major changes if your team needs an audit copy.
  • Compare configurations before restoring an older snapshot.
  • Use option-level Restore when you need to recover one setting without replacing the full configuration.

Troubleshooting​

Configuration is not available​

Possible causes

  • No configuration has been downloaded for the selected panel.
  • The panel is not available for download.
  • The user does not have permission to view or download configuration.

What to do

  1. Confirm that you opened the correct panel.
  2. Select Download.
  3. Wait for the download process to complete.
  4. If the warning remains, confirm panel connectivity and your permissions.

Refresh does not update the list​

Possible causes

  • The download process did not complete.
  • The panel is offline or unavailable.
  • There were no changes since the last downloaded configuration.
  • The user does not have permission to download configuration.

What to do

  1. Select Refresh again after confirming panel availability.
  2. Check whether the newest configuration has the same date or values as the previous one.
  3. Confirm that you have permission to download configuration.
  4. Contact support if the download repeatedly fails.

Compare icon is missing​

Possible causes

  • The selected configuration is the newest current configuration.
  • Only one configuration snapshot exists.
  • The user does not have permission to compare configurations.

What to do

  1. Check whether the configuration has the current configuration check icon.
  2. Select an older configuration in the list.
  3. Download another configuration if only one snapshot exists.
  4. Confirm your permissions.

Upload button does not appear​

Possible causes

  • No configuration option has been changed.
  • The changed value was reverted.
  • The open configuration is not editable.
  • The user does not have permission to change configuration.

What to do

  1. Change an editable configuration option.
  2. Confirm that the option is highlighted as changed.
  3. Check whether the pending changes message appears.
  4. Confirm that you have permission to upload configuration changes.

Upload takes longer than expected​

Possible causes

  • Uploading configuration changes can take more than 5 minutes.
  • Panel communication is slow or unstable.
  • The upload includes multiple configuration changes.

What to do

  1. Wait for the upload process to finish.
  2. Do not refresh the page unless instructed by support or product guidance.
  3. If the upload fails, review the changed options and try again when panel communication is stable.

Exported file does not open correctly in a spreadsheet​

Possible causes

  • The wrong separator was selected.
  • The spreadsheet application expects a different delimiter.
  • The file name was changed or the file extension is missing.

What to do

  1. Export the configuration again.
  2. Select the separator required by your spreadsheet application: Comma, Semicolon, or Tabulation.
  3. Confirm that the file name ends with .csv.
  4. Open the file again.

Basic configuration cannot be created​

Possible causes

  • No configuration elements were selected.
  • The basic configuration name is empty or invalid.
  • The user does not have permission to create a basic configuration.

What to do

  1. Select Make basic from the three-dot menu.
  2. Select one or more configuration elements.
  3. Select Create.
  4. Enter a basic configuration name.
  5. Save the basic configuration.
  6. If saving fails, confirm the name rules and your permissions.

Restored value is not applied as expected​

Possible causes

  • The wrong configuration snapshot was selected.
  • The wrong option was restored.
  • The restore process did not complete.
  • The panel received later configuration changes after the restore.

What to do

  1. Compare the saved configuration and current configuration again.
  2. Confirm the configuration dates shown on the compare screen.
  3. Restore the correct option or full configuration again, if needed.
  4. Refresh the configuration after restore to verify the panel state.
