Devices

Overviewโ€‹

The Devices tab shows the devices, panel items, and camera devices associated with the selected panel in the Equipment hub. Use this tab to review device status, apply filters, inspect device details, and enroll security or camera devices.

Users typically open this tab after selecting a panel on the Equipment page. The Equipment hub opens for that panel, and the Devices tab provides a device-focused view within the same panel context.

Use the Devices tab to:

  • Search for devices in the selected panel.
  • Filter devices by condition, type, protocol, or workflow state.
  • Review status, battery, RSSI, partition, and diagnostic information.
  • Open detailed information for a selected device or panel item.
  • Enroll security devices.
  • Add RTSP or OnVIF camera devices.
  • Refresh RSSI, GSM, or Wi-Fi status data.
  • Review, apply, or delete saved filters.

Before you beginโ€‹

Required permissionsโ€‹

  • You must have permission to view equipment.
  • You must have permission to view panels.
  • You must have permission to open the Equipment hub for a selected panel.
  • You must have permission to view devices associated with the selected panel.
  • You must have permission to add or enroll devices to use the Add device action.
  • You must have permission to edit or delete devices to use the edit and delete actions.
  • Additional permissions may be required to view diagnostics, refresh device data, or manage saved filters.

Access to the Equipment page, Equipment hub, and Devices tab is controlled by equipment-related role permissions.

Preconditionsโ€‹

  • At least one panel must exist on the Equipment page.
  • You must select a panel from the Equipment page to open the Equipment hub for that panel.
  • The selected panel must have device data to show the full device list.
  • The browser must support modal dialogs, overlays, dropdowns, and interactive list selection.
  • To enroll a security device, you must have the required enrollment data, such as the Enrollment ID for PowerG devices.
  • To add an RTSP or OnVIF camera, you must have the required camera connection information.

Dependenciesโ€‹

  • The device list depends on device data linked to the selected panel.
  • Device status, trouble indicators, battery values, RSSI values, and diagnostic values depend on current panel and device data.
  • RSSI, GSM, and Wi-Fi refresh actions depend on communication with the panel or related services.
  • Saved filters depend on stored filter definitions for the Devices tab.
  • Camera access settings depend on network configuration, camera URLs, credentials, ports, and panel access settings.

Important limitationsโ€‹

  • The Devices tab is available from the Equipment hub for a selected panel. It is not opened directly from the main navigation.
  • The device count and device list reflect the current search and filter state.
  • Some actions may be hidden or disabled if your role does not include the required permission.
  • The Add button in the security enrollment form remains disabled until required data is entered.
  • The Save button for RTSP and OnVIF devices submits the form only when validation passes.
  • Background interactions are blocked while the Enroll device, Add RTSP, or Add onVIF modal is open.
  • Values shown in diagnostics and status sections can be unavailable, delayed, or incomplete if the panel or device has not reported current data.

Device cardsโ€‹

Device cards summarize each device in the list. Visible default examples include:

  • Device 3: Delay 1 | Zone 3, Contact aux, Partition 1.
  • Device 4: Delay 1 | Zone 4, Contact aux, PowerG +, Partition 1, Battery 90%.
  • Device 5: Delay 1 | Zone 5, Vanish contact, PowerG +, Partition 1, Battery 90%.
  • Device 6: Delay 1 | Zone 6, Vanish contact.

When the Troubled filter is active, the list can show one selected panel or device card:

  • Identifier: 88F2461A1283
  • Name: HS2128 R
  • Warning icon
  • B and G status badges

Other visible cards can include:

  • Alternate Comm: Neo communicator TL285LE, partition or range badge 1-8.
  • Wired WLS 1: Wired to wireless, partition or range badge 1-8, RSSI or status bars.

Contact device details panelโ€‹

The right panel shows details for the selected device. For a contact device, the General tab shows enrollment, link, protocol, RSSI, battery, and partition information.

When a troubled panel or device is selected, the details panel shows active warnings and diagnostics.

The Saved Filters overlay opens under the top search bar. It appears above the device list and details panel. The background page remains visible.

The Enroll device modal opens when you select the + icon in the Devices panel. The background Devices page is darkened, and background interactions are blocked.

Add OnVIF modalโ€‹

The Add onVIF form is used to add a camera with user credentials, URLs, ports, and optional zone association.

How to use this pageโ€‹

Open the Devices tabโ€‹

Goal:

  • Open the device list for a specific panel.

Steps:

  1. Open the Equipment page.
  2. Select the panel you want to review.
  3. Wait for the Equipment hub to open for the selected panel.
  4. Select the Devices tab.

Expected result:

  • The Equipment hub shows the Devices tab for the selected panel.
  • The left panel shows the device list.
  • The right panel shows details for the selected device.

Search for a deviceโ€‹

Goal:

  • Find a device in the selected panel.

Steps:

  1. Select the Search Devices field.
  2. Enter a device number, name, location, or other supported search text.
  3. Review the updated device list.
  4. Select a device card to open its details.

Expected result:

  • The device list updates to match the search text.
  • Selecting a result highlights the device card and loads details in the right panel.
note

The available searchable values depend on the data indexed for the selected panel.

Apply the Troubled filterโ€‹

Goal:

  • Show devices or panel items that need attention.

Steps:

  1. In the left panel, select Troubled.
  2. Review the active filter state.
  3. Confirm that the Search Devices field shows the filter chip with Troubled: and Yes.
  4. Review the updated device count.
  5. Select the troubled item to review its details.

Expected result:

  • The Troubled filter button is highlighted and can show a checkmark.
  • The device count updates. For example, it can change from 121 devices to 1 device.
  • The device list shows only matching items.
  • The right panel loads details for the selected troubled item.

A trouble indicator means the item requires review. Use the details panel and diagnostics before taking corrective action.

Remove an applied filterโ€‹

Goal:

  • Return the device list to the unfiltered state.

Steps:

  1. Find the active filter chip in the Search Devices field.
  2. Select the x icon on the chip.
  3. Review the device list and count.

Expected result:

  • The filter chip is removed.
  • The active filter button is cleared.
  • The device count and list return to the previous unfiltered state.

Select a device and review detailsโ€‹

Goal:

  • View detailed information for a device.

Steps:

  1. In the left panel, select a device card.
  2. Confirm that the selected card is highlighted in blue.
  3. Review the right details panel.
  4. Select a details tab, such as General, Parent, Configuration, or Firmware, if available.

Expected result:

  • The selected card remains highlighted.
  • The right panel shows details for the selected device.
  • The selected tab displays the corresponding detail section.

Review contact device statusโ€‹

Goal:

  • Check signal, battery, and partition information for a contact device.

Steps:

  1. Select the contact device in the left device list.
  2. Open the General tab in the right details panel.
  3. Review General information.
  4. Review RSSI values.
  5. Review Battery values.
  6. Review Partitions.

Expected result:

  • General information shows values such as Enrollment ID, Link, and Protocol.
  • RSSI shows Current, Average, and Last update values.
  • Battery shows availability, percentage, and voltage values.
  • Partitions shows the configured partition value.

Review active warnings and diagnosticsโ€‹

Goal:

  • Investigate a troubled panel or device.

Steps:

  1. Apply the Troubled filter or select a troubled item from the list.
  2. Open the General tab in the details panel.
  3. Review Active warnings.
  4. Review the Diagnostic section.
  5. Select the refresh icon in the Diagnostic section if updated values are needed.

Expected result:

  • The details panel shows the active warning, such as Wrong dealer ID.
  • Diagnostic values show battery voltage, charge current, charge status, charge start time, and charge duration.
  • Refreshing diagnostics requests updated values.

Refresh RSSI, GSM, or Wi-Fi dataโ€‹

Goal:

  • Request updated communication or signal data.

Steps:

  1. Open the Devices tab for the selected panel.
  2. Select one of the quick action icons:
    • Refresh RSSI
    • Refresh GSM
    • Refresh WiFi
  3. Wait for the request to complete.
  4. Review the updated device list or details panel.

Expected result:

  • The selected refresh action is requested.
  • Relevant status values update when new data is available.
note

Refresh results depend on communication with the panel, device state, and service availability.

Open and use saved filtersโ€‹

Goal:

  • Apply or manage saved filters.

Steps:

  1. Select the save or filter-related control in the top bar.
  2. Review the Saved Filters overlay.
  3. Select a saved filter row to apply it, if row selection is enabled.
  4. To remove a saved filter, select the trash icon on the row.
  5. Use the three-dot menu for more saved filter actions, if available.

Expected result:

  • The saved filters overlay opens under the top search bar.
  • Selecting a filter applies it to the device list.
  • Deleting a filter removes it from the saved filter list.
warning

Deleting a saved filter can remove it from the saved filter list. Confirm that the filter is no longer needed before deleting it.

Enroll a PowerG security deviceโ€‹

Goal:

  • Add a PowerG security device to the selected panel.

Steps:

  1. In the Devices list panel, select the + icon.
  2. In the Enroll device modal, keep Security selected.
  3. Open the Protocol dropdown.
  4. Select PowerG, if it is not already selected.
  5. Enter the Enrollment ID.
  6. Confirm that the Add button becomes available.
  7. Select Add.

Expected result:

  • The modal submits the security enrollment request.
  • The new device is enrolled when validation and enrollment succeed.
  • The device list updates after the device is added.
note

For PowerG, the Enrollment ID field is required. If the field is empty, Add remains disabled.

Cancel security device enrollmentโ€‹

Goal:

  • Close the enrollment modal without adding a device.

Steps:

  1. Open the Enroll device modal.
  2. Select Cancel.

Expected result:

  • The modal closes.
  • The Devices page returns to its previous state.
  • No device is enrolled.

Add an RTSP camera deviceโ€‹

Goal:

  • Add a camera device by RTSP stream link.

Steps:

  1. In the Devices list panel, select the + icon.
  2. In the category menu, select RTSP.
  3. Enter the Stream link.
  4. Turn on Use panel public IP for access if the camera should use the panel public IP.
  5. Enter the Device number.
  6. Enter the Label.
  7. Select Associate with Zones and choose zones, if required.
  8. Select Save.

Expected result:

  • The RTSP camera form is submitted.
  • The camera device is added when validation passes.
  • The device appears in the device list after it is saved.

Add an OnVIF camera deviceโ€‹

Goal:

  • Add an OnVIF camera with credentials, URLs, ports, and optional zone association.

Steps:

  1. In the Devices list panel, select the + icon.
  2. In the category menu, select OnVIF.
  3. Enter the User and Password.
  4. Use the password visibility icon if you need to verify the password value.
  5. Enter the Onvif Local URL.
  6. Enter the Onvif Remote URL.
  7. Turn on Use panel public IP for access if the camera should use the panel public IP.
  8. Enter the remote and local RTSP and OnVIF port values.
  9. Enter the Device number.
  10. Enter the Label.
  11. Select Associate with Zones and choose zones, if required.
  12. Select Save.

Expected result:

  • The OnVIF camera form is submitted.
  • The camera device is added when validation passes.
  • The device appears in the device list after it is saved.

Edit a deviceโ€‹

Goal:

  • Open the editing flow for a selected device.

Steps:

  1. Select a device from the left device list.
  2. In the right details panel, select the edit icon.
  3. Update the available fields in the editing flow.
  4. Save the changes, if the flow provides a save action.

Expected result:

  • The device editing flow opens.
  • Saved changes are reflected in the device list or details panel.
note

The fields available in the edit flow depend on the selected device type and your permissions.

Delete or remove a deviceโ€‹

Goal:

  • Remove a device from the selected panel.

Steps:

  1. Select a device from the left device list.
  2. In the right details panel, select the delete icon.
  3. Review the confirmation message.
  4. Confirm the deletion or removal, if you are sure the device should be removed.

Expected result:

  • The device deletion or removal request is submitted.
  • The device is removed from the list when the request succeeds.
  • The device count updates.

Deleting or removing a device can affect monitoring, automation, and zone associations. Confirm the device identity before you continue.

Troubleshootingโ€‹

The Devices tab is not visibleโ€‹

  • You are not in the Equipment hub for a selected panel.
  • Your role does not include permission to view the Devices tab.
  • The selected panel page did not load correctly.

  1. Open the Equipment page.
  2. Select a panel to open the Equipment hub.
  3. Check whether the Devices tab is available.
  4. Confirm that your role includes the required equipment permissions.
  5. Refresh the page if the Equipment hub does not load correctly.

The device list is empty or incompleteโ€‹

Possible causes

  • The selected panel has no associated devices.
  • A search or filter is active.
  • Device data did not finish loading.
  • Your role does not include permission to view some devices.

What to do

  1. Confirm that you opened the Equipment hub for the expected panel.
  2. Check the Search Devices field for search text or filter chips.
  3. Remove active filter chips.
  4. Refresh the page.
  5. Confirm that devices are configured for the selected panel.
  6. Contact an administrator if expected devices are still missing.

The device count does not match expectationsโ€‹

Possible causes

  • A filter is active.
  • Search text is limiting the list.
  • Device data changed after the page loaded.
  • Some devices are hidden by permission or filter rules.

What to do

  1. Review the Search Devices field.
  2. Remove filter chips.
  3. Clear search text.
  4. Check the active filter buttons.
  5. Refresh the page.
  6. Compare the list with other panel views, if available.

The Add button is disabled in the security enrollment formโ€‹

  • Required enrollment data is missing.
  • PowerG is selected and Enrollment ID is empty.

  2. If PowerG is selected, enter the Enrollment ID.

  1. Review all required fields in the form.

  3. For OnVIF, confirm the User and Password values.
  4. Check whether Use panel public IP for access should be on or off.
  5. Review zone association selections.
  6. Select Save again after correcting the form.

A troubled device shows Wrong dealer IDโ€‹

Possible causes

  • The selected panel or device reports a dealer ID mismatch.
  • The panel account or dealer configuration may not match expected system data.

What to do

  1. Select the troubled item.
  2. Open the General tab.
  3. Review Active warnings.
  4. Review Diagnostic values.
  5. Refresh diagnostics if the data may be outdated.
  6. Escalate to an administrator or support team if the warning remains.

RSSI, GSM, or Wi-Fi values do not updateโ€‹

  • The panel or device is not reachable.
  • The refresh request is still processing.
  • The selected device does not report the requested value.
  • You do not have permission to run the refresh action.

  1. Wait for the refresh request to complete.
  2. Refresh the page if values do not update.
  3. Confirm that the panel is online and communicating.
  4. Select a different device to check whether the issue affects one device or the panel.
  5. Contact an administrator if the refresh action is unavailable.

The saved filters overlay blocks the pageโ€‹

Possible causes

  • The saved filters overlay is open.
  • The overlay appears above the device list and details panel.

What to do

  1. Select outside the overlay if supported.
  2. Select the save or filter-related control again if it toggles the overlay.
  3. Use the three-dot menu only if you need additional saved filter actions.
  4. Refresh the page if the overlay does not close.

Device details do not match the selected deviceโ€‹

Possible causes

  • The selected card changed after filtering.
  • The device list refreshed while details were open.
  • The details panel did not finish loading.

What to do

  1. Confirm which device card is highlighted in blue.
  2. Select the device card again.
  3. Wait for the details panel to update.

Delete or edit action is not availableโ€‹
