Keypad
Overview
The Keypad tab in the Equipment hub provides a virtual keypad for a selected panel. Use this tab to connect to the panel keypad, view keypad screen and LED activity, send keypad commands, and review keypad communication logs.
The tab is available only for supported panel types:
- DSC panels
- Visonic panels
Use the Keypad tab when you need to perform panel actions that are normally completed from a physical keypad. The virtual keypad helps users work with a panel remotely from the Equipment hub.
The Equipment hub opens when you select a panel from the Equipment page. The Keypad tab is shown per panel and depends on the selected panel type.
Before you begin
Required permissions
- You must have permission to view equipment.
- You must have permission to open the Equipment hub for a panel.
- You must have permission to use panel keypad controls, if this action is restricted by your role.
Access to the Equipment hub, panel details, and keypad-related actions is controlled by role permissions configured for your organization.
Preconditions
- The selected panel must be a supported panel type: DSC or Visonic.
- The panel must be available in the Equipment page.
- The Equipment hub must be opened for the selected panel.
- The keypad connection must be available before you can use the virtual keypad.
Dependencies
- Keypad availability depends on the selected panel type.
- Virtual keypad operation depends on communication between the application and the physical panel keypad.
- Log content depends on keypad activity, screen updates, LED updates, and keys sent during the active session.
Important limitations
- The Keypad tab is present only for DSC and Visonic panels.
- If the keypad is not connected, the tab shows the Keypad is not connected message and the Connect button only.
- Select Disconnect after you finish using the virtual keypad. If you do not disconnect, a communication backlog can occur and no other virtual keypad can connect.
- You can use virtual and physical keypads at the same time with Visonic panels.
- If you activate a Neo or PSP virtual keypad, the physical keypad is deactivated.

- Download the log before clearing it when you need a record for support or troubleshooting.
- Use log filters to reduce noise during troubleshooting. Start with All, then switch to Keys, Text, or Leds when you need a focused view.
- Watch the keypad screen after each key selection. Some panel workflows require you to wait for a prompt before entering the next value.
- For Neo or PSP virtual keypads, remember that activating the virtual keypad deactivates the physical keypad.
