Network Map
Overview
The Network Map tab shows the selected panel and its related devices and modules in a tree map. Use this tab to review how equipment items are connected, inspect individual items, and identify devices that need attention.
Users typically open this tab from the Equipment hub after selecting a panel on the Equipment page. The map helps users understand the relationship between the panel, devices, and modules without opening each item separately.
Use the Network Map tab to:
- View the selected panel in context with its devices and modules.
- Review parent-child relationships between equipment items.
- Open item details and available actions from the right-side modal.
- Find devices with trouble conditions by looking for the warning icon.
- Change the map orientation, zoom level, and position.
Before you begin
Required permissions
- You must have permission to view equipment.
- You must have permission to view panels.
- You must have permission to open the Equipment hub for a selected panel.
- You must have permission to view devices and modules related to the selected panel.
- Additional permissions may be required for actions shown in the right-side modal.
Access to the Equipment page, Equipment hub, and Network Map tab is controlled by equipment-related role permissions.
Preconditions
- At least one panel must exist on the Equipment page.
- You must select a panel from the Equipment page to open the Equipment hub for that panel.
- The selected panel must have related device or module data to show a complete map.
- The browser must support interactive map controls such as drag, zoom, and item selection.
Dependencies
- The Network Map depends on panel, device, and module data available in the system.
- Trouble indicators depend on current device status data.
- Actions in the right-side modal depend on the selected item type and your role permissions.
Important limitations
- The Network Map tab is available from the Equipment hub for a selected panel. It is not opened directly from the main navigation.
- The tree map shows relationships that are available for the selected panel. Missing or incomplete equipment data can affect what appears on the map.
- Selecting an item opens the right-side modal for that item. The available actions can differ for panels, devices, and modules.
- Devices with trouble conditions are marked with a warning icon. The map does not replace detailed troubleshooting tools or device diagnostics.
