SIA events with point label description
Overview
PowerManage now supports SIA-formatted events that include point label descriptions. This improves compatibility with SIA event sources that provide a point descriptive label as part of the event payload.
With this update, PowerManage can accept and process supported SIA events even when the event data includes point label description information.
This support applies to SIA-formatted events that include point label descriptions in the event payload.
What's changed
Previously, PowerManage did not support SIA events when they included point label descriptions. In some cases, these events could fail to be accepted or processed.
PowerManage now supports these events and can process them normally when they are received from compatible SIA event sources.
Who is affected
This update affects:
- Dealers, operators, installers, and administrators who monitor SIA-formatted events in PowerManage.
- Systems that send events in SIA format.
Benefits
SIA events with point label description support provides the following benefits:
- Improved compatibility with SIA event sources.
- More reliable event processing when point label descriptions are included.
- Better event context because descriptive point label information can be included in the event payload.
What you need to do
Typical use
No action is required. PowerManage processes supported SIA-formatted events with point label descriptions automatically.
Behavior details
When PowerManage receives a supported SIA-formatted event that includes a point label description, it can process the event instead of rejecting or failing it because of the additional label information.
You will notice the improvement if you use PowerManage with a device or integration that:
- Sends events in SIA format.
- Includes point label descriptions in the event data.
Important notes and limitations
- This support applies to SIA-formatted events with point label descriptions.
