Automatic activation
PowerManage 5.0 supports automatic activation for Neo 5 panels during initial discovery. This update helps dealers, operators, and installers complete discovery without manually entering the panel installer code when automatic activation succeeds.
What's changed
- Added automatic activation for Neo 5 panels.
- Added support for retrieving the installer code automatically for Neo 5 panels.
- Reduced manual installer code entry during the discovery process.
- Changed the fallback behavior for Neo 5 panels when automatic activation fails.
Automatic activation applies to Neo 5 panels during initial discovery or after changing the installer code.
Who is affected
This update affects:
- Dealers, operators, and installers who enroll or discover Neo 5 panels.
- Neo 5 panels during initial discovery.
- Neo 5 panels after the installer code is changed through configuration.
- Manual activation workflows when automatic activation fails.
Benefits
Automatic activation provides the following benefits:
- Faster enrollment and discovery for Neo 5 panels.
- Less manual intervention during initial setup.
- Less dependency on default installer codes being the same across panels.
- Improved security because the panel accepts the activation request only after it confirms that it is communicating with PowerManage.
What you need to do
Typical activation
If automatic activation succeeds, no action is required. Activation completes as part of initial discovery.
In the typical activation flow, you don't need to enter the installer code manually.
Manual activation fallback
If automatic activation fails, activate the panel manually.
To activate the panel manually:
- Go to Equipment.
- Select the panel to open the Equipment hub.
- Select Activate.
- Enter the correct installer code for the panel.
For Neo 5 panels, PowerManage does not fall back to the previous automatic activation method that uses system installer codes. If automatic activation fails, manual activation is the supported fallback.
Behavior details
Automatic activation runs during initial discovery for Neo 5 panels. It can also run again after the installer code is changed through configuration.
After the configuration change is applied:
- PowerManage triggers automatic activation for the panel.
- PowerManage synchronizes the new installer code.
- Automatic activation is expected to complete successfully.
Automatic activation runs again only after the configuration change is applied.
Important notes and limitations
- Automatic activation for Neo 5 panels can't currently be disabled.
- Manual activation is still available if automatic activation fails.
- Existing activation behavior doesn't change for other panel types, including Neo panels earlier than v5.0 and PSP panels.
