Proximity tag integration with door lock systems
Overview
PowerManage supports proximity tag management for supported door lock systems and keypad readers. After a proximity tag is enrolled on the panel, or through a supported flow, PowerManage can discover the tag, display it under the correct customer or user context, and allow supported management actions such as editing tag details or removing the tag.
PowerManage does not support enrolling, or auto-learning, new proximity tags directly from the PowerManage UI. Enroll tags from the panel, then allow them to synchronize into PowerManage.
PowerManage is used to view and manage synchronized proximity tags. New tag enrollment must be completed on the panel or through a supported flow.
What's changed
PowerManage now supports discovery and management of enrolled proximity tags for supported door lock systems and keypad readers.
This update adds support for:
- Discovering proximity tags that were enrolled on the panel.
- Displaying enrolled tags in customer, user, and device contexts.
- Updating supported tag information, such as the tag label.
- Removing enrolled tags when they should no longer be assigned.
PowerManage does not support:
- Enrolling new proximity tags directly from PowerManage.
- Server-side auto-learning for proximity tags.
Supported tag types
Neo 5 panels support two tag categories that PowerManage can display and manage after enrollment.
| Tag type | Primary use |
|---|---|
| Door lock tag | Unlock supported electronic door locks. |
| Proximity tag | Arm and disarm the security system using supported readers. |
Supported devices
Door lock tag readers for door unlocking
Supported Yale Doorman models include:
- Yale Doorman L2 (500).
- Yale Doorman L3 (501).
Legacy and security proximity tag readers for arming and disarming
Reader-capable keypads include:
- 371, 372, 374, 378, 379.
- Corbus keypads that include a proximity reader.
Some environments may also support proximity tag enrollment when keypads are enrolled through a Wired-to-Wireless (W2W) module (460), depending on the panel ecosystem and device setup.
Panel limits for Neo 5
Neo 5 panels support different maximum counts of proximity tags per model.
| Panel model | Maximum proximity tags |
|---|---|
| HS2128R | 1000 |
| HS2064R | 500 |
| HS2032R | 72 |
| HS2016R | 48 |
Supported behavior depends on the panel model, enrolled reader-capable device, and the panel ecosystem configuration.
Who is affected
This update affects:
- Dealers, operators, installers, and administrators who manage proximity tags in PowerManage.
- Customers and users who have proximity tags assigned to supported panels or devices.
Benefits
Proximity tag integration with door lock systems provides the following benefits:
- Easier visibility of proximity tags after they are enrolled on the panel.
- Centralized review of synchronized tags in customer, user, and device contexts.
- Support for updating tag details where supported.
- Support for removing tags that should no longer be assigned.
What you need to do
Typical use
No special setup is required in PowerManage.
To use proximity tags with PowerManage:
- Enroll the reader-capable device, such as a supported door lock or keypad with reader, to the panel.
- Enroll the proximity tag from the panel or through a supported flow.
- Wait for the panel data to synchronize to PowerManage.
- In PowerManage, review the synchronized tag.
- Edit tag details or remove the tag where supported.
If a newly enrolled tag does not appear in PowerManage immediately, wait for the next discovery cycle, then refresh the view.
Review and manage tags in PowerManage
After synchronization, you can typically:
- Find tags under customer or user details.
- Find tags in supported device views.
- Edit supported tag details, such as the label.
- Remove a tag when it should no longer be assigned.
Behavior details
PowerManage discovers and displays proximity tags after they are enrolled outside of PowerManage. The enrollment happens on the panel. After the panel synchronizes its data with PowerManage, the tag becomes available in the supported customer, user, and device contexts.
Important notes and limitations
- PowerManage does not support enrolling, or auto-learning, new tags from the PowerManage UI.
- Door lock tag behavior depends on using supported door lock models with proximity capability.
- Tag visibility in PowerManage depends on panel synchronization or discovery.
- Supported edit and remove actions may vary by device, panel type, and tag configuration.
